What are the minimum requirements for Chromebooks?
We recommended choosing a Chromebook with these following minimum specifications:
  • Manufactured after 2013
  • Screen Size of 9 Inches or more
  • 6 Hours of Battery life.
  • 16GB storage and 1GB RAM

What are the minimum requirements for the iPad?
We recommended choosing an iPad with these following minimum specifications:
  • Screen Size of 9 Inches or more
  • 32GB Storage
  • 6 Hours of Battery life.
  • Front and Back facing camera
Will a secondhand device be okay?
Secondhand or older devices are suitable however the device must meet the minimum requirements.

Are Discounts available when purchasing a new Device? 
Discounts are available on iPads and various Accessories from the Apple Store. You can either purchase through the 'Apple Education Store' tab on this website, or in store at the Castle Towers Apple Store, just mention that your child is a student at St Bernadette's. 
Discounts for Chromebooks will be available through the Chromebook Store Po

How will my child's device be kept secure during school?
The iPad will be kept in the Child's tubs during school hours. Before and dafter school and during recess and lunch the rooms will be locked.

How will you ensure my Child's safety when they are browsing the internet?
At St Bernadette's we use an Internet safety filter called ZScaler which is managed by the Catholic Education Office. This service blocks explicit, unsafe, non-educational websites and apps from being used while at school. 
As well as this, the Child's use of the iPad will be closely monitored by their Classroom teachers.

Do I need the provide a case?
We strongly recommend a good quality case that will cover the entire device including the screen.

Is my child able to have their own Apple ID?

Children under 13 can't create an Apple ID on their own. However, as a parent or legal guardian can provide verified parental consent for a child to have their own Apple ID, then create it on the child’s behalf.

How do I set up an Apple ID? 

On a PC or Mac - Please see this link and follow the prompts - https://appleid.apple.com/account

On an iPad or iPhone - 
1. Open up the App Store App
2. Open the 'Featured' Tab and Scroll down to the Bottom.
3. Click the 'Sign In' Button
4. Click the 'Create New Apple ID' Button
5. Follow the Prompts to Create an Apple ID

Will I have to pay for Apps?
If teachers request an App that cost money, parents will not be expected to pay for it. As part of the Technology Fee the school will cover the cost of these Apps.
